This is my personal favorite. Unlike other popular fragrances, it has a very understated, cool, and textured scent, and the longevity is quite good. I was surprised to find it was actually Jo Malone.

The top note is a heavy, cool hazelnut with a slightly astringent quality, like the scent of moist forest bark. Soon, the heaviness of cedar rises, overcoming the initial bitterness and chill. The oak notes then gradually soften as they emerge.

English Oak & Hazelnut is a very distinctive fragrance in the brand. Its lack of powdery or overly chemical notes is a strength, but it also has its drawbacks: the scent doesn’t change much throughout, the line is relatively flat, and the sillage is average.

Fragrance lovers who enjoy cool, woody notes without overly sweet notes should give this a try.
